This study revealed that the key issues of concern to students in the Mekong Delta are epidemics, natural disasters, environmental pollution, the influence of social media, and unemployment through analysis of quantitative survey results of 2,758 students in the Mekong Delta region and sixteen in-depth interviews with students in the area. The research highlighted significant differences in the level of concern regarding different social issues among student groups, based on gender and academic discipline. Female students tend to be more concerned with environmental pollution and gender equality, whereas male students focus more on traffic safety and job security. Students in social sciences and humanities show greater sensitivity to issues related to social media influence and traffic safety, while students in life sciences are more focused on environmental issues, anti-corruption measures, and gender equality. Meanwhile, students in the arts and culture disciplines express strong concerns regarding unemployment. These findings not only provide valuable insights into students’ concerns about social issues but also contribute significantly to the development of educational programs, policies, and intervention strategies aimed at raising awareness and fostering social responsibility among the younger generation in the Mekong Delta.
