This study examines intimate partner violence (IPV) trajectories over the life course among women aged 60 and older, using a life history calendar to collect retrospective data from 52 participants in the Southwest U.S. Findings reveal that 53.8% experienced IPV after age 45, with about a quarter still in abusive relationships at the time of interview. IPV followed a curvilinear pattern, increasing earlier in life and tapering off later. The study calls for enhanced IPV screening protocols and tailored services for older women. Integrating life course theory highlights the need to recognize IPV in aging populations, offering practical implications for research and intervention.
