Gender dynamics in legal practices are underexplored in North African societies, with Madagascar serving as a critical case study due to its unique blend of traditional and modern legal systems. Action research methodology was employed, involving interviews with local judges, lawyers, and community leaders to gather qualitative data. Focus groups were also conducted among women's advocacy organizations to assess their perceptions and experiences related to gender in legal contexts. Women reported facing significant barriers in accessing justice, particularly regarding inheritance laws and land rights, where cultural practices often override formal legal frameworks. The research underscores the need for comprehensive reforms that integrate traditional values with modern legal principles to ensure equitable treatment of all genders under Madagascar's legal system. Recommendations include revising existing legislation to align more closely with international human rights standards, alongside promoting public awareness campaigns about women's legal rights.
