ABSTRACT An Optometry‐Public Health questionnaire has been developed and a representative stratified random sample of the Houston, Texas, population taken. The attitudes of the general public concerning the inclusion of optometric services in a national health program were tabulated. The data indicate that a large percentage of the population favors a nationalized health care program, with optometric services included. The results have been evaluated according to age, sex, education, race and income level.
