This innovative offshore structure employs a modular, hybrid design that integrates multiple pontoons with truss structure. This paper presents a systematic study on wave load model test of the large truss offshore structure, covering the fundamental principles, model design procedures, and measurement techniques for loads and motion of model. Based on the structural characteristics of the platform, an innovative integrated pontoon-backbone beam structure is proposed, combining the pontoon and backbone beam to ensure geometric similarity while enabling accurate load measurement. The model is primarily constructed of aluminum alloy with welded connections, significantly enhancing its comprehensive performance. A series of wave load model tests are caried out, and the results are analyzed to investigate the relationship between wave parameters and the platform's wave-induced loads and motions. The findings provide a valuable basis for validating wave load simulation method for such platforms.
