The article examines the evolution of approaches to the professional training of lawyers in Russia within the framework of Russian legal doctrine and university reforms, starting with the University Statute of 1863. It substantiates the importance of combining theoretical instruction with practice-oriented formats, including legal clinics and contemporary digital models of legal aid. The study demonstrates that the stability of the legal order and public trust in legal institutions depend on legal certainty, adherence to procedural safeguards, and the development of professional legal consciousness. It concludes that further advancement of clinical legal education is necessary to strengthen legality and enhance the quality of legal training in the Russian Federation.
