Achieving “no water supply, no effluent outside the plant, no decarbonization, and no odor” in surface treatment is the ideal for anyone conscious of the global environment, and is the goal of a sustainable society. However, this cannot be achieved with the current approach. To ensure corporate sustainability, profitability is more important than productivity. To achieve this, it is necessary to abandon common sense and return to principles, transcend professional barriers, involve colleagues by engaging in thoughtful dialogue with people in diverse positions, and produce from a holistic viewpoint. Such a challenge will realize social implementation of technology and advance manufacturing.
