This article introduces a new section in The Chemical Educator that focuses on research in the teaching and learning of chemistry. The section will include articles that present research findings of interest to chemical educators. This article describes the rationale for the section, a brief description of the varieties of research conducted in chemical education and criteria for the submission of research papers.
