An evaluation of the methods used for balancing of complex redox reactions has been done. Although the algebraic method (material balance method) is based on the law of mass conservation in the chemical reactions, it is not popular among the chemists because of the mathematical difficulties. It was shown that a variation of the method called “a modified form of the algebraic method” permits to balance the reactions easier and faster by elementary mathematical calculations. The oxidation number method, commonly used in the chemistry, can also be applied successfully for the balancing of even very complex redox reactions.
