Does ACEI use increase respiratory complications or mortality in patients undergoing noncardiac surgery?
The use of ACE inhibitors prior to noncardiac surgery does not appear to increase the risk of perioperative respiratory complications or short-term mortality.
We did not find any association between use of ACEIs and intraoperative or postoperative upper-airway complications. Furthermore, ACEI use was not associated with in-hospital complications or increased 30-day mortality.
