ABSTRACT This article investigates the fixed‐time (F‐T) and predefined‐time (P‐T) consensus for nonlinear multi‐agent systems (NMASs) via aperiodically strictly intermittent event‐triggered control (ASIETC). Firstly, a novel F‐T stability lemma is proposed, which could provide an accurate estimation of the settling time (ST) under the aperiodically intermittent control. Subsequently, by using the proposed lemma, F‐T consensus of NMASs could be achieved via ASIETC. Note that the ASIETC is aperiodical and strictly intermittent, which is more flexible and effective in information transmission and energy saving than the periodically and non‐strictly intermittent control. Furthermore, P‐T consensus of NMASs could be derived by adjusting the parameters of the ASIETC. The ST of P‐T consensus is independent of the initial values and the parameters of NMASs, which is more suitable for the actual application than the finite/F‐T consensus. Additionally, Zeno behavior could be excluded by proving that any event triggering interval is greater than zero. Finally, the theoretical findings presented in this article are validated through the use of numerical example.
