Journal Article Community-based organizations for migrant workers' rights: the emergence of labour NGOs in China Get access Chris King-chi Chan Chris King-chi Chan * Chris Chan is an assistant professor at the Department of Applied Social Studies, City University of Hong Kong, where he teaches sociology. He gained his first degree at the University of Hong Kong, worked as a labour organizer in Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions and then studied MA in comparative labour studies and PhD in sociology at the University of Warwick. He has researched and published widely on Chinese migrant workers, including the book Challenge of Labour in China: strike and changing labour regimes in global factories (Routledge, 2010) and many articles in journals such as China Quarterly, Journal of Contemporary Asia, and Industrial Relations Journal.
