New Games, New Rules, New Scoreboards: The Potential Consequences of Big Data

I believe that Ioanna Constantiou and Jannis Kallinikos are correct in asserting that Big Data portends major changes for organizations and society. But I also believe that the source of Big Data’s potentially transformative power lies not so much in the characteristics of Big Data, on which those authors concentrate, as it does in what Big Data’s character- istics afford (Markus and Silver, 2008; Kallinikos, 2011).
