Mononuclear complexes ZnL (NO3) 2 1 and ZnLCl2·CH3CN 2 are prepared for the first time by the interaction of 6-ferrocenyl-2, 2′-bipyridine (L) with zinc (II) salts. The structure of crystal phases is determined by XRD, and it is shown that the nature of the anion (NO₃^- or Cl–) is essential for determining the central atom′s coordination environment. In 1 (space group P21/c), the 5+1 coordination environment is described as a distorted trigonal prism. In 2 (space group P1), the geometry is intermediate between tetrahedral and vacant trigonal bipyramidal.
