Résumé: En Guadeloupe, en 1975, la grève des ouvriers agricoles récoltant la canne permet de saisir les usages circonstanciés de l'histoire de l'esclavage au sein de la mouvance indépendantiste. Cette dernière mobilise en effet un passé local et revisité décolonisant les mémoires de l'esclavage par la valorisation des résistants à ce système. Parallèlement, elle réifie la figure archétypale de l'esclave pour décrire les travailleurs haïtiens afin de dénoncer leur présence perturbant des rapports de force entre grévistes syndiqués et patrons des usines sucrières. Abstract: In Guadeloupe, in 1975, the strike by agricultural workers harvesting sugar cane provides an insight into the circumstantial uses of the history of slavery within the pro-independence movement. The latter mobilized a local and reinterpreted past, decolonizing memories of slavery through the valorization of those who resisted this system. At the same time, it reified the archetypal figure of the slave to describe Haitian workers, denouncing their presence as a disruptive force in the balance of power between unionized strikers and sugar factory bosses.
