Magnitude Surveys was commissioned to assess the subsurface archaeological potential of a c. 25ha area of land to the east of Eccelshall. A fluxgate gradiometer survey was successfully completed across the survey area. No anomalies suggestive of certain archaeological features were identified, however anomalies were detected that are of undetermined classification. Anomalies related to agricultural use have been identified and interpreted as former field boundaries, the location of disused and infilled ponds, as well as drainage features. The survey has also identified multiple anomalies related to the natural geology. The impact of modern activity on the results was limited and corresponds with magnetic disturbance along the field edges.
