The aim of this study was to examine the phenolics, antioxidant-enzyme inhibitory activities, as well as cytotoxic effects of the phenolic extracts for the Sideritis lanata (SLN), S.pisidica (SP), S. sipylea (SS), S. libanotica (SLB), S. leptoclada (SLP), S. tmolea (STM) and S. trojana (STR) collected from Turkiye. Among the identified phenolics, phenolic acids were found to be the most abundant, particularly, p-coumaric, ferulic, and caffeic acids. For antioxidant activity, the best IC50 values for DPPH•, HO•, NO• scavenging were determined in STM, SS, and SS, respectively. SS exhibited a 5.1-fold higher HO• quenching capacity compared to BHT. The strongest anti-acetylcholinesterase/tyrosinase activities were detected in SLP and SLB, respectively. While the cytotoxic properties of these extracts against HeLa, HepG2, OE-33, and ACC-201 were detected, more extensive effect was observed against HepG2 in SLB, SLP, STM, and SLN. Sideritis species may represent a potential source of bioactive with strong cytotoxic, enzyme-inhibitory, and antioxidant properties, suitable for applications in pharmaceutical/medical/food industries.
