Abstract Malignant nerve sheath tumours are rare in sugar gliders ( Petaurus breviceps ). An 8‐year‐old male presented with hindlimb swelling, ulceration and self‐mutilation. Radiographs showed bone lysis, and bloodwork revealed thrombocytosis, elevated alanine aminotransferase and hypoalbuminaemia. Hindlimb amputation was performed using a modified small animal surgical technique. Postoperative care included multimodal analgesia, laser therapy and a custom anti‐mutilation vest. Histopathology confirmed a malignant nerve sheath tumour with incomplete margins. The patient recovered well and remains free of recurrence. This is the first report of surgical management of such a tumour in a sugar glider, emphasising adapted surgical techniques and postoperative self‐mutilation prevention.
