Soft skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving are increasingly recognized as crucial for academic and professional success in a globalized world where English often functions as the main medium of interaction. English language classrooms, both physical and virtual, provide rich opportunities not only to develop linguistic competence but also to foster a wide range of transferable soft skills through interactive, learner-cantered activities. Here we discuss the concept of soft skills, examines the role of English language learning in developing these skills, highlights classroom strategies and digital tools that support soft skill growth, and reflects on the implications for employability. The discussion shows that when carefully designed, English language courses can become powerful platforms for holistic learner development rather than focusing exclusively on grammar and vocabulary.
