Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, and impaired insulin secretion. Aging further aggravates glucose intolerance, oxidative stress, and therapeutic resistance, making diabetes management in elderly populations particularly challenging. The present study was designed to comparatively evaluate the antidiabetic efficacy of selected ethanolic plant extracts EEMI, EEAM, and EECD in adult and aged type 2 diabetic mice. Experimental diabetes was induced using a standard diabetogenic protocol, and blood glucose levels were assessed following extract administration. Results showed a significant increase in blood glucose levels in diabetic control groups compared to normal controls (P < 0.01). Treatment with ethanolic plant extracts produced a marked and statistically significant reduction in hyperglycemia in both adult and aged mice. In adult diabetic mice, EEAM exhibited the most pronounced glucose-lowering effect, whereas in aged diabetic mice, EEMI demonstrated superior efficacy. The study highlights age-dependent variation in therapeutic response and supports the potential of medicinal plant-based interventions as complementary strategies for managing type 2 diabetes.
