This paper assesses factors affecting time and cost performance of road construction projects from Ondo and Ekiti states, Nigeria. Purposivesampling technique was used to select and administered 188 copies of the questionnaire to respondents from the construction practitioners; clients, contractors and consultant, of which 131 copies were retrieved. Their responses were analysed using SPSS 19 and presented in simple descriptive and Percentile tables. Spearman’s rank correlation was used for test used to analysed the relationship between initial contract sum and actual completion cost (r = 0.951, p < 0.01). The result of the study revealed that, inadequate equipment, inadequate managerial skills, project construction complexity, failure of equipment and shortage of materials were the important factors affecting time performance of road construction projects. The research also revealed that, inflation, inaccurate estimate, fraudulent practices, contractors’ project inexperience, inadequate planning and over design were the important factors affecting cost performance of road projects in the research environ. The study made recommendation for government at all levelsto reduce the rate of inflation, ensure stability in the prices of construction materials and to address the causes of excessive and bottleneck within the bureaucratic structure of the organizations.
