Conventional methods for measuring crystal orientation are subject to many constraints related to sample shape and surrounding environment, and have limitations when applied to crystal growth phenomena with low reproducibility. In this study, we investigate a method for simply estimating crystal orientation based on the RGB components of images obtained by transmitted polarized light observation of ice crystals and TBAB hydrate crystals growing in micro-gaps. Furthermore, we will correlate the obtained orientation information with the crystal patterns during the growth process and examine the relationship with the growth behavior of each crystal.
