Watching brief on test pits, window sampling, plate tests and pull tests The watching brief confirmed the deposit sequence consistent with that noted in the previous trial trenching and the geological mapping. It comprised Topsoil (0.245m-0.3m thick), subsoil (0.15m -0.25m thick), Head or colluvium (TP08 only, 0.5m thick) and the Boulder Clay. A single undated archaeological feature was noted in TP05. Given the limited size of the test pit little can be said about this feature other than that it confirms that archaeological remains survive.
