The climate agenda has moved from lofty goals to binding deadlines, and the energy industry is responding in kind. Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) has emerged from the laboratory and pilot-plant stage to become a mainstream component of power-generation strategies, industrial decarbonization plans, and national net-zero roadmaps. In applied geoscience, that transition creates both a responsibility and a unique opportunity to shape a rapidly expanding field while reinforcing the value SEG delivers to members.
