ABSTRACT This study provides an analytical investigation into the propagation of a semi‐infinite crack in a functionally graded dry sandy strip (FGDSS) under initial stress conditions influenced by the propagation of SH‐waves. The Wiener–Hopf (WH) procedure & two‐sided Fourier integral transforms (FIT) have been utilized to derive a closed‐form expression for the stress intensity factor (SIF) under a force of constant intensity (CF). Numerical computations and graphical representations reveal the impact of factors such as crack speed, crack length, horizontal, and vertical initial stress, functional gradient & sandiness parameter on the SIF in FGDSS. Additionally, special cases have been derived from the SIF expression for CF, and a comparative study has been conducted for SIF under various configurations.
