Politicization of the Electorate in France and the United States

Since the revolutions in the latter part of the eighteenth century, France and the United States have followed quite different courses of political development. Nonetheless, a comparison of political institutions and the participation of citizens in these democracies should be of very special interest to social scientists in both countries, as well as elsewhere.
