This article explores the development of emotional intelligence in future teachers. It substantiates the need for the development and implementation of new approaches to emotional intelligence development in the educational environment at the current stage of the Russian education system’s evolution. A convergent approach to developing emotional intelligence in a pedagogical university is described. The conceptual basis of this approach lies in the integration of disciplines, teaching practices, and digital resources into a holistic environment that ensures the targeted development of emotional intelligence patterns through a system of intersecting educational trajectories. Based on the key patterns of emotional intelligence, which serve as the methodological core of the approach, a model for implementing the approach in a pedagogical university is developed and described. Key conditions for implementing the convergent approach are identified: methodological unity, interdisciplinary design, technological equipment, and systemic reflection. It is concluded that the convergent approach ensures continuous and contextually embedded rather than episodic development of emotional intelligence, making it the foundation of a teacher’s professional identity.
