This article summarizes the fates of 61 neurologists who were persecuted, expelled, or murdered during the Nazi regime. This collective biography is the outcome of a project focusing on neurologists who were persecuted in Nazi Germany. These biographies were presented in detail in a special German-language edition of the journal Der Nervenarzt. The selection of neurologists presented here was chosen to include as many former members of the DGN (the Society of German Neurologists, GDN at the time) as possible, with the aim of tracing their stories of persecution. The article systematically documents and analyses various patterns of expulsion and exclusion, different reactions to Nazi terror, and different experiences during and after flight, as well as deportations to concentration camps, murders, and forced suicides.
