A small area archaeological excavation revealed a site that saw Roman occupation including both early (1st-2nd century) and late (4th century) Roman elements. It consisted of a ditch surrounded by several refuse pits, and a post hole. The quantity of finds suggests significant settlement in the vicinity if not within this site itself. The ditch was truncated by a large quarry pit, probably medieval or later.
