Abstract We report a fatal case of hemorrhagic encephalitis and chorioretinitis caused by B virus. There was witnessed prior injuries from bites and scratches by wild monkeys. The 420-bp gB gene sequence of B virus, detected from patient’s CSF, clustered with those of rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) after phylogenetic analysis.
