Introduction. The problem of studying the motivation of retirement-age people to continue working, their involvement of individual and other resources for maintaining professional efficiency is recognised as important by scientists in many countries of the world, but the mechanisms of subjectivity of elderly people to maintain high efficiency in professional work and at the same time not to reduce the quality of life creation in other spheres of life for this age category are insufficiently researched. Purpose of the study: to analyse the available approaches and offer the author’s view on the solution of these problems. Research methods: the tools of dialectical logic, comparativistics, conceptual generalisation and modelling were used. Results. The connection of subjective vitality and spirituality in the aspect of personal security is revealed. The author’s model of professional longevity in people of retirement age is substantiated. It is shown that the wisdom of life creation in retirement-age people, based on advanced subjectivity, can be considered as a mediator between vitality and spirituality, affecting subjective well-being and psychological health. It is arguedthat the life of people in certain historical periods is determined both by the existing mentality in the society and by the influence of social, material and legal realities. The necessity of development of psychotechnologies of rendering psychological assistance in increasing resilience, health saving, development of motivation of prolonged labour employment and psychological competence for optimal use of personal resources and dynamic characteristics of the subject in case of difficulties arising in professional activity is outlined.
