Purpose: Despite the growing body of evidence supporting reminiscence therapy (RT) as an effective intervention for individuals with dementia, evidence-based research findings fail to achieve full implementation in clinical practice. To address this translational gap, this tutorial outlines the foundational planning steps necessary for the successful integration of an RT program called Memory Lane Memory Management into skilled nursing facility (SNF) settings. Method: A structured, step-by-step framework for clinical application of the Memory Lane Memory Management program is provided. These steps include identifying appropriate participant criteria, conducting comprehensive assessments, and systematically implementing RT within the clinical environment. Furthermore, the three phases of the Memory Lane Memory Management program are discussed with examples of goals, materials, and procedures involved in implementation. Results: The integration of RT methodologies within clinical practice has the potential to enhance therapeutic outcomes and improve quality of life for individuals with dementia. Conclusion: This tutorial reviews the theoretical foundations and clinical principles of RT, summarizes its documented benefits for individuals with dementia, and describes the Memory Lane Memory Management program and its implementation in an SNF, serving as an example of the translation of knowledge into impactful clinical practice.
