How does an institution prepare its next generation of leaders during a massive technological pivot? This research examines Georgetown University’s 2026 rollout of Google Gemini as a case study in "structural" leadership development. Moving beyond individual skill-building, this study utilizes Strategic Leadership and Sensemaking theories to show how leadership succession and preparation are baked into institutional design—specifically through governance policies, access protocols, and strategic communications. It provides a framework for understanding how technological change acts as a catalyst for institutional continuity and succession planning.
