In conceiving the International Encyclopedia of Business and Management (IEBM) in the early 1990s, the editorial team set itself a major challenge. The aim was to create a reference work covering all aspects of management studies that was international both in terms of its subject matter and its authorship. The finished 6-volume work was published in 1996. It was awarded CHOICE Current Reviews for Academic Libraries Outstanding Academic Book in 1997 and can be found in most business school libraries throughout the world. Since publication in 1996 there have been tremendous advances in business and management which have necessitated the development of a new, improved second edition. IEBM 2nd Edition addresses these advances by updating all existing material as well as adding a great deal more. This revision means that the printed encyclopedia now fills 8 volumes with fifty percent more entries and four million words.
