This article explores the impact of macroeconomic and market factors on fleet renewal planning among Russian airlines under sanctions and restricted access to foreign-made aircraft. A comprehensive analysis is conducted of the main threats, including currency volatility, rising jet fuel costs, declining operational profitability, and deepening import dependency. Particular attention is paid to the prospects of import substitution programs based on domestic aircraft models such as the SSJ-100, MC-21, and Il-114-300. The study identifies production and institutional barriers that hinder a large-scale transition to Russian-built aircraft. Using statistical data and industry reports, the paper concludes that achieving sustainable fleet modernization requires systemic transformation of industrial, financial, and logistical infrastructure. The research provides practical insights and may be useful for professionals in transport planning, aviation management, and industrial policy.
