The early experiences of new faculty are critical to their success in, and satisfaction with, an academic career, and department chairs play a crucial role in their adjustment. This study examines and describes the experiences of new School of Education faculty in a research university, then compares those experiences to the expectations and perceptions administrators have of the new-faculty experience.
