Mark Rapaport, M.D., began his one‐year term as president of the American Psychiatric Association at the close of APA's 2026 Annual Meeting in San Francisco. Rapaport was the founding CEO, emeritus, of the Huntsman Mental Health Institute at the University of Utah and adjunct professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at Stanford. “Achieving true mental health parity will require all of us — psychiatrists, policymakers, health systems, advocates, philanthropists and business leaders — to work from a shared agenda,” he said. “As APA president, I look forward to working with APA members and partners across health care, policy and philanthropy to advance parity, reduce stigma and improve access to high‐quality psychiatric care.”
