Library automation has significantly transformed how libraries manage resources and deliver services. By integrating digital systems and software into traditional operations, libraries have increased efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility. Automated processes cover cataloging, circulation, acquisitions, digital resource management, and user services, reducing manual work and human error. Automation has also facilitated remote access to resources, personalized user services, and improved operational decision-making. Despite these advantages, libraries face challenges such as high initial costs, technical difficulties, staff training, and digital literacy gaps among users. Future developments, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, robotics, and immersive technologies, promise to further enhance library operations. This paper explores the multifaceted impact of automation on library management and services, examining both its benefits and challenges, and provides insight into how libraries can adopt technology effectively to meet the evolving needs of users in the digital era.
