The purpose of this chapter is to consider the nature and dynamics of spatial inequalities in South Africa in order to identify potential responses that could support more inclusive forms of development. The author analyses some of the prevailing patterns and driving forces that lie behind them. This is a necessarily selective and pitched at a high level of generality.
