Abstract The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a transformative approach to education in India, emphasizing holistic learning, cultural rootedness, and integration of traditional knowledge systems with modern disciplines. This paper examines the role of Modern Indian Knowledge Systems (MIKS) in the NEP 2020 framework, explores how indigenous epistemologies are re-integrated into formal education, and assesses the opportunities and challenges associated with implementation. Drawing on policy analysis, literature review, and qualitative data from educators and curriculum designers, the study highlights key insights into how MIKS can enrich contemporary education while addressing cultural alienation, innovation, and lifelong learning. The findings suggest that while NEP 2020 presents a progressive vision, actualizing the integration of MIKS will require systemic reforms, capacity building, and empirical evaluation frameworks.
