A BSTRACT Postgraduate medical education (PGME) is central to Saudi Arabia’s efforts to develop a high-performing, self-sustaining healthcare workforce aligned with Vision 2030 and the Human Capability Development Program. As a leading academic and clinical institution, the Riyadh Second Health Cluster (RC2) has pioneered structured and responsive PGME programs under its Executive Administration of Academic Training Affairs (ATA). This review explores the evolution, achievements, and strategic priorities of RC2’s postgraduate education system. It examines the historical development of PGME in the Kingdom, regulatory frameworks, educational methodologies, and emerging challenges such as burnout, resource disparities, and integration of technology. The paper also highlights innovative initiatives launched by RC2, including specialized professional certificates and leadership programs targeting nursing, dental, and interdisciplinary teams. These efforts reflect a deep commitment to capability building, patient-centered care, and system-wide transformation. Through continuous alignment with national goals and stakeholder engagement, RC2 exemplifies a model for educational innovation and excellence. This paper concludes with targeted recommendations for sustaining progress and enhancing impact across other training centers. The RC2 experience provides valuable lessons for the future of medical education in Saudi Arabia and similar healthcare systems undergoing rapid transformation.
