New in situ measurements from 10 sites, including three in basalt, have about the same range of permeability for crystalline rocks as reported previously, namely, from about 10 −18 m 2 (1 μdarcy) to 10 −13 m 2 (100 mdarcy). Highly conductive intervals may be as deep as 3 km.
