The experience of aged nursing home patients is analyzed in terms of the format developed by Roth. The passage of time and events is broken up into units according to an informal timetable. The bargaining of career participants seeking to improve their timetable status has special characteristics and uses in this regressive type of career. The conclusions of the study have both theoretical and practical implications.
