When I began to structure programs for teacher training in AI with SEP-CONOCER endorsement, my goal was clear: separate serious training from training that is done in a two-hour webinar and called training. Today there are dozens of AI courses for teachers that promise much and deliver little. The endorsement from Mexico's Secretariat of Public Education through CONOCER sets a minimum standard of hours, content, and assessment that protects both the teacher and the educational institution hiring them. In this article I unpack what the 30-hour standard really covers, why institutional endorsement matters beyond the certificate on the wall, what mistakes schools make when choosing a training provider, and how to validate whether a training is serious or not.
