Frighted poor people in Mozambique have killed Red Cross volunteers and police who they accuse of spreading cholera. There are lynchings of susepcted criminals in dense suburban neighbourhoods. These incidents appear to reflect the fear of very poor people, and stresses of living under unremitting poverty.
