• A method for the selective hydrogenation of CO 2 to propane at relatively low temperatures (230-270 °C) is proposed. • Benzene co-feeding is shown to significantly increase propane formation at the expense of C 1-2 and C 4-6 aliphatics. • Benzene co-feeding acts to anchor in-situ produced methanol intermediate promoting the aromatic HCP cycle.
