Research and development labor rationing can not only help to solve the problem of overwork and emotional burnout among researchers, but also to make planning more efficient and improve the productivity of academic labor and the scientific and technological level of RD. This overview considers Russian and foreign approaches to the rationing of RD labor. The existing approaches are described. The author analyzes their advantages and disadvantages in the context of the peculiarities of research labor, which distinguish it from other types of activities. The article provides a comparative assessment of the approaches, which helps to identify those that best contribute to solving the problems arising in the rationing of RD labor.
