The negative influences of the black community and the gay community as social identity elements of black gays' self-concept are heuristically explored. The discussion points out how racism in the gay community, and the anti-homosexual attitudes of the black community may result in black gays developint inadequate coping techniques and poor self-concepts exhibiting sex role and racial stereotypes.
