To review the literature examining predictors of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine acceptance, with a view to communicating about HPV vaccination in Morocco. We searched PubMed, SCOPUS, and grey literature from Google Scholar to identify original studies describing predictors of HPV vaccine acceptance, including awareness and knowledge related to HPV, cervical cancer (CC), as well as HPV vaccine among Moroccan medical students and adults (with or without children). Data abstraction and synthesis were guided by the Health Belief Model. Seven studies were identified. Most were cross-sectional, quantitative and moderately sized. Current research reports mixed levels of acceptability of HPV vaccine, with low levels of awareness and knowledge related to HPV, CC screening and HPV vaccine. Perceived barriers, including cost, lack of recommendations about the HPV vaccine and fear of side effects, were central to acceptability, as were cues to action from doctors and the Ministry of Health. HPV vaccine programs in Morocco should highlight the increased susceptibility to HPV infection and the proven efficacy of the vaccine. They should also engage healthcare providers in actively recommending the vaccine and addressing barriers to vaccination.
