The study examines how victim blaming remains an ongoing issue in India through its examination of female victims who face online harassment. The study examines how people who have experienced victimization develop mental health issues and social problems and legal problems because of their belief in victim-blaming. The research used a quantitative survey which involved 204 participants to determine that cyberstalking and cyberbullying represented the most common types of cyber harassment. The results show that people who believe in traditional gender roles together with those who think of personal responsibility as the main cause of victimization tend to develop victim-blaming beliefs. The study shows that people with these specific beliefs experience emotional distress and social isolation because they refuse to report incidents which they believe will damage their reputation.
